Spring Bloom Layered Tissue Paper Flower Project

One creative afternoon in 2003 I was experimenting with making tissue paper flowers. I forgot how I made them in elementary school (and wanted something a bit more intermediate), so I decided to invent my own design.
Having the enduring carnation in mind, I gathered my materials and designed a "layered" tissue paper flower from my imagination and was so pleased with the results that I made a step-by-step project out of it complete with photos which has been published on the Creativity Portal Web site ever since.
There's been a lot of interest in my tissue paper flower project over the years. Most recently I was contacted by the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) who asked permission to use the project in their April, 2007, consumer press release which they said would be "sent out to about 2000 features/lifestyle editors
at the top daily newspapers and craft publications."
I granted permission for the CHA to use my project in their press release which was sent out to publications this week. I'm aware of at least one editor who requested a photo, so the project may just pop up in a newspaper or magazine near you.
Meanwhile, I've updated the project and format on the Creativity Portal Web site, so if you're in the mood to crinkle you some creative carnations, grab some tissue paper and chenille stems and go have a look see. •
