Cartoony Lesson #6: How to Draw a Tea Cup

You Can Draw Cartoony Things! Personal Edition

Welcome Cartoony Drawing-Seeker!

The free drawing lesson that used to play on this Web page has packed its little cartoony self and moved on up! Yes, it was so popular with googly searching creatives that it's now been published in my exciting printable e-playbook, You Can Draw Cartoony Things! which features this drawing lesson and 14 others, plus 13 of my original Nit Wits comics and more drawing resources to inspire creative cartooning, imagination, humor, and play (click on book covers above to learn more). Thank you for your interest! — Chris Dunmire, Author

Nit Wits #8: Tee Time

Drawing symmetrical cartoony tea and coffee cups is easy with this technique: mirroring. In Nit Wits #8 ("Tee Time") I drew one side of the cup and then mirrored (flipped) it to the other side. The result: a cup of equal symmetry.

After you draw the outline of your teacup, fill it with "tea" by coloring the inner circle with a brownish-red color. Then, add a little wispy steam line coming out the top with light-gray.

Draw your own teacup by following the step-by-step drawing lesson in my printable e-playbook, You Can Draw Cartoony Things!
