How to Draw a Radish:
And Other Fun Things to Do at Work
The Pure JOY in Creative Play! Posted May-27-2007
Play! I say... with sidewalk chalk art.
The first person to really teach me about the playful side of art and creativity was author Joy Sikorski. In the mid-1990s I came across a review for her book “How to Draw a Radish: And Other Fun Things to Do at Work” and was immediately captivated by her pairing of "fun" and "work". ... |

"Justinasaurus" Chalk on Sidewalk by Chris Dunmire
Sidewalk Talk: Chalk Art for Grown-Ups Posted May-21-2007
Sidewalk Chalk Art Tips for Kids at Heart
I'm looking at a big square bucket of sidewalk chalk that I picked up this past weekend. It boasts "52 Sticks in 24 Different Colors." Each chalk is shaped like a pointy Crayola crayon and is big enough to fill the tiny hand of a 5-year-old child.
Why do I have this chalk? Oh, the tales I could tell. In fact, I will. You can read all about it in my humor piece: 7 Sidewalk Chalk Art Tips for Creatively Inhibited Adults. ... |

Being Part of the FLOWering of Creative Intention
Posted May-14-2007
My Sunflower Children (11 Days)
Thoughts of yesterday's Mother's Day holiday made me reflect on the idea that having biological children isn't the only way one can take on the role of a nurturing mother. In fact, months ago when I was halfway through Wayne Dyer's book, The Power of Intention I decided THIS was going to be the year that I would cultivate a hands-on appreciation for gardening and become a co-creator with the divine mother herself, Mother Nature. ... |

Book: Valerie Hunt's "Infinite Mind" Posted

Science of the Human Vibrations of Consciousness
An intriguing book that gives scientific perspective on mystical experience. One of my favorite passages from the book comes from page 200:
"Did you ever think that the sky begins at your feet? We think it's out there in the air rather than up there and down here simultaneously."
A mind-expanding book, quite literally. ... |

A Self-Coaching Journey through "The 12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women" Posted
May-8-2007
Why Can't We Stand NOT Knowing "the Secrets"?
It's been my intention to promote this book on my Creative Slush Web site ever since I read it in 2005. And with all the buzz about "secrets" right now, I thought it was fitting for me to finish up this project that's been sitting in my virtual IN basket for a very loooong time!
Gail McMeekin's book, "The 12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women" is one that I highly recommend every woman on the creative path read, whether you outright buy it (available from Amazon ) or borrow it from your local library. It so happens that I acquired my copy directly from the author, which has nothing to do with my enthusiasm over what this book has done for me personally. You'll find and enjoy this feature in its whole finished glory on the CYC Web site. • |

Wire Art: Energy at Play Posted

Wired for Creative Expression!
You can imagine my pleasant surprise when I came across a Web site named Wire Inspire featuring the work of a wire artist named Angela Hook. I'll admit, my creative imagination immediately saw a piece of whimsical wire floating through the air with a hook curved over at one end. Wires and hooks just seem to go together like peanut butter and jelly! ... |
